snapshots of marrakech.

In mid-January, we escaped for a long weekend trip to Marrakech to soak up some much needed sunshine, experience a different culture and explore the famous medina and souks. With excitement building, I checked the forecast expecting to see temperatures warmer (and sunnier) than London. Unfortunately, the weather gods were against us as it was due to rain the entire four days we were there… not what we had planned, oh well!

We stayed in an amazing hotel outside of the old city which was an oasis paradies. We were lucky enough to be the only guests there so we had this beautiful mansion (and two pools) all to ourselves! The rain may have dampened our socks but not our spirits; we went out and explored the markets and old town, visited the sights, sampled some local food delights (the sausages at stall 32 of the markets were incredible), bargained in the souks, drove dune buggies across the palmeraie and desert, and relaxed in our luxurious accommodation. In the end, it didn’t matter that we didn’t get the sun we had hoped for as Marrakech had more than enough to offer. We are already planning a trip back – this time with empty suitcases so we can bring home more Moroccan goodies!

Welcome to fionaTree! My name is Fiona and I’m a 25 year old lawyer living in London, originally from Adelaide, Australia. I moved here just before the Olympics in 2012 and have been loving London life ever since then. I have a passion for good food (bordering on obsession) and a love of adventure.

I’m starting this blog as a way to share my photos and travels with my family and friends. I’m notoriously bad at updating facebook and sharing my pictures, so we will see how this turns out!

Please feel free to leave me a comment or contact me via

I hope you enjoy x
